Microsoft's next version of the Windows operating system, dubbed Windows 8, will debut in 2012, company CEO Steve Ballmer said Monday. Ballmer made the announcement in Tokyo, speaking to an audience of software developers. Observers had been expecting the next version of Windows next year, but this is the first time that the company has officially confirmed the 2012 date. Ballmer told the developers, "as we look forward to the next generation of Windows systems, which will come out next year, there's a whole lot more coming," according to a transcript of his speech posted to Microsoft's website. http://www.pcworld.com/article/228492/windows_8_2012.html#tk.rss_news

It sounds awful from what I have read about is so far. The you-tube doesn't look encouraging either.

I am sticking to 7 as well. We bought a new desktop last night, it was a good deal because of the tax free weekend (on school supplies). Win 7... you bet.

I was SO reluctant to get Win 7 at first, only cause of my mastery of Win XP and I honestly thought it was another "phase" but then I heard they were going to no longer do the updates for XP next year? and for the fact that I needed more ram to play SWTOR more efficiently so went ahead and invested.. I love it.. but it's something I'll stick with until they no longer put out updates for.. my gameplay is forever changing lol so will always need to improve lol I am such a geek

They stop making updates, so we will all run out and buy new OS`s or computers. They know how to rake in the money. I read somewhere that they will be updating 7 for a long time, hope its true. I need to see if I can find that article.
