Being without hydro, would not bother me at all.... I have lived in a log cabin for over 2 years without hydro, heating and water from a tap...
I learned to read by candlelight, cook over a woodstove and if on is inventive, you can take those large candles put a stove rack over it and place a pot on it, as long as you have water or milk, you can make cocoa, tea, coffee, soup, kraft dinner, stew, etc...
The more heavy foods the longer it takes to cook....
I love candle light...

We went without power for three years back in the eighties. It is much easier than living without water... We did that, too. Hauling water is a nightmare, so is heating bath water. Now that computers are around it would be much harder to live without power!
