The town was very known for its richness but later known for its lawlessness such as violence and lust. Everyday killings have been noted in result of the lawlessness. It is being said that the place is cursed, that even if you just take one pebble out from that town, you will be in bad luck for the rest of your life. The place was generally abandoned because of the many natural and man-made incidents that desolated the area of the town.

Interesting.  I've been to this town a few times in my day.

However, I do like Goldfield, Nevada a bit better.  A gold rush town reduced to ruins.  Sorta fun to stop and wander though
the buildings and structures.  The climate is inhospitable.  Bitter cold in the winter, hotter than hell in the summer.  Out in the
middle of the desert where nobody would find you if you fell over.

Down those back stretches of highways between Reno, Fallon and Lost Wages......

...hundreds of miles of nothing exceptin small abandoned towns, an occasional roadrunner
or someone kicking dust up hundreds of feet in the air from 4 wheeling in the distance

you got Hawthrone, NV where the US military makes it bombs from the nearby mineral mines

Beatty, Goldfield.......desolate.... highway 95 runs adjacent to the bombing range the Air Force uses
out of Nelles AFB in Las Vegas.

Of course they have a few mobile home brothels that exist for the wayward trucker or someone
who might have got lucky at Vegas.

One could go though Mojave and see the airplane graveyard.  Military and Commercial vessels by the hundreds.
Baker, CA with its oversize thermometer needle.  There is a little restaurant I know that has those old peddle
push cars that the kids used to drive all along their wall and the waitress still wears a beehive like it was 1960
all over again......

A good camera would bring great pictures from this journey

Is the airplane graveyard the one that was in the '40s movie The Best Years of our Lives? I may have visited it once, but I can't remember for sure if I really did, or
it was just a dream.  I'll never know for sure. . .

BODIE, Calif.—There have been no reports of injuries or damage after a small earthquake struck near the Northern California town of Bodie, which is close to the Nevada border.
The U.S. Geological Survey says the preliminary 3.0-magnitude quake struck at 8:53 p.m. Tuesday.

It was centered 11 miles southeast of Bodie, 20 miles northeast of Lee Vining and 146 miles east of Sacramento.

A Mono County Sheriff's Department dispatcher located a few miles from Bodie said she did not feel the earthquake in her office and had not received any reports of injuries or damage.
