I don't think we can think of one best writer of all time..... there are so many great ones, and some that are not so well known also....

There are so many topics that were written about also, from children's books, to songs, to quotes, to novels, to autobiographies, etc.....

Who I may think is great another may not, such as Steven King, some of his books are great others not so much, then you have song writers, some of their songs are top 5 all the time, others hit once and maybe remember for just one hit....

Just thought I would add to your post of the best writer then when I went to say, could not find just one, but many....

Yes, there are so many out there and it really depends on what you like to read.

Plenty, you have such a great point about all the song writers out there too. There are so many talented pens out there!  Afro

As others have said, there are a bunch of good ones.

Harold Robbins anyone?

I do like Grahame Greene.  Been checking out some of his works to film.

For sci fi writers,  Arthur C. Clark,  Larry Niven, Andre Norton, and Issac Asimov.

yeah,,,,Anne Rice, Stephen King.......
and tons others....

What about Will Durant?  He tried to accomplish the impossible.  History of civilization!

Kitty is a closet fan of Harold Robbins.  I just know it!

Do you realize that really, we should only be picking the first few famous writers, for after them, everything else has already been said.... now we just use different words.... or meanings that we have put on those words...

such as pig,  ho/hoe/,  and now all our text words wtg, tc, lol, etc.....

We write what we dream, what we see and what we feel, so our words are no longer new just expanded lol

I don't know Plenty, I think there is a lot left to say. How can every possible idea or thought already be said? I think that's impossible to ever accomplish, don't you? And even if you put that aside, you still have the scientific ideas that haven't even been put into words yet. Otherwise, we would have the cures to many of our ellusive diseases.

Just a contributing thought....

Every thought and Ideal ever has been said

we are just building words and Ideals off of them
