Amazing how much we pay for a poor man's meal now I just shopped and couldn't believe I paid these prices for these items.
Bologna  1lb. $3.69
Hotdogs 12 dogs $3.89

Kraft Dinner 1 box $1.79

I feel so sorry for single parents trying to raise kids on a fixed income.Just crazy.
This is a comparison chart that shows what some foods cost through the years compared to now.You can click on different decades to see the prices.

We understand.

It is a day of pick and choose.  There is not once source where you can get all the best buys in groceries.

One place might have a few good sales.  Another has produce cheaper.  Still others have incentives to buy a certain
amount and getting bonuses for achieving a mark.

I used to save and use coupons but they are drying up.  You can still get a few online but it takes work.

Fortunate for me that my region has a farmer's market that have excellent prices for veggies and fruit year around.

Meat I get at the meat store close to wholesale.  Usually once a month in bulk.

Dollar Store I get my spices and paper products.

Cutting corners is more prudent that ever.

If I can I buy a lot of store brand items

but a few of them are disappearing

the hot dogs I have been buying just went up 50 cents

I think it is a scam what food companies do because they know we have to eat

and don't get me going on what a decent piece of steak cost

Coupons are a joke lately.  "Save 25 cents when you buy 4"   pffht.

Yeah, I've given up on coupons. Half the time I forget them or there's a better deal on another brand anyway.

We're really cutting corners right now too. Much simpler meals and making sure we take our lunches to work instead of buying at the cafe (you spend $7 on a regular sandwich if you do that). At least we aren't picky eaters - we like pretty much anything and everything. I think we could live on stewed tomatoes and pickles if we had too!  Grin
