I just recently started studying Tarot cards and readings and I just thought I would get your opions related to the whole idea. Have any of you have readings done? Do you know anyone who does Tarot? Do you believe in a 'guide' such as tarot cards? Anything along those lines.

I`v got a deck of Rider-Waite Tarot cards, using a book from the library, I practiced reading my own cards.
Pretty interesting... I found that the readings were pretty accurate.

The self-readings I have done so far have seemed pretty accurate too. I'm excited about it. I have Gilded Tarot deck and it's the standard 78 card deck. The cards are just beautiful, which is why I suspect I was attracted to them over the Rider-Waite deck. I feel that the author is almost overly optimistic though and she doesn't even address reverse readings simply because she doesn't believe in them. I'd like to explore them just to have the background.

I'm not sure if you've looked at any websites, Clouds, but if you have any you can suggest I'd be most interested.

Those are pretty stunning images... I Googled them.
They were not out when I got my deck, I`ve had mine for ten years now... Hard to believe it`s been so long.

I used books when I was reading my cards. I`ll have to look into some of the web sites on the subject. Been a while since I even looked at my cards... It can be scary at times.

Reverse readings make the tarot all the more interesting, as I recall.

Jan (goops) was into the Tarot for a while, as I recall.

Unfortunately, the only thing I really know of them are from a few old Dark Shadows episodes I remember watching some years back, when the show used to air before Sliders early in the am.

I always thought it was an interesting subject, however.

I think the whole thing is pretty neat although I've already had a few friends say that I shouldn't get into it because it can open doors I shouldn't be opening - similar to a ouija board.

We had a Ouija Board once. My mother thought is was evil and threw it outside.
Next time I saw it, it was completely covered with fleas. Kind of reminded me of the
flies in The Amityville Horror. Evil

I have done readings for over 20 years, they are not something to play with... one needs to know that if they are going to do other peoples' readings to not play with it!!!  Some people take it too litterly and that is not good....

Basically I try to tell people without scaring them, but it is really hard to do, like anything else almost everyone can do this, but not everyone should....

Please think twice about doing readings on yourself or other people without thinking seriously about it!!!

Remember the power of suggestion also, and further, remember that the cards can mean different things to different people.... such as the death card, to me it means a change in life, not necessarily death, it could come as telling someone they may be changing their home or relationship issues, it could also be a health warning.... so much to learn before playing with the cards and doing readings on others.... not trying to scare you just warn you to take care okay!!! heart heart heart

Still, if you look into the history of Tarot you will see that there are a few variable decks over the ages that causes interpetations a bit differently also.

Maybe for me instead of reading them on a personal level, I seem to enjoy them for their paticular meanings as lessons of virtue instead of indulgence.

Temperance for instance has many small background pictures of the setting sun and the lillies.  Temperance herself passing water to wine though held flasks, one foot in the water one on land.
