 Cheesy What a dummy!!

PAW PAW, Mich. (WOOD) - Authorities say a man who was drunk parked his vehicle on the front lawn of the state police post in Paw Paw after getting sick while driving.

Todd Joseph Olin, of Comstock Park, was arrested Thursday. He was charged with operating while intoxicated, his third offense. Olin has six prior arrests for OWI since 1986. He also faces a misdemeanor charge for driving with a suspended/revoked license.

Olin was arraigned in 7E District Court in Paw Paw and held on $25,000 bond.

Troopers arrived at 2 a.m. Thursday at the post. About 10 minutes later, they walked out of the building and saw Olin's vehicle parked on the lawn.

Troopers talked with Olin, who they say was very intoxicated and had vomited on himself.

He could not remember where he was coming from, but said he was on his way home and thought he was almost there. But he lives in Comstock Park -- about 60 miles away.

Olin said he was looking for a place to stop and rest after getting sick. He told police he tried to park in the post's parking lot but was too drunk and couldn't stop and ended in the grass.

He was arrested and taken to the Van Buren County jail.

Preliminary tests show his blood-alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit.

Lol, a friend of mine who I constantly told not to drink when driving, went to a party one night and refused to give up his keys.... he said later that what I told him to do if he felt he was too drunk to drive almost worked...

He left the party, and swerved to miss a deer and then came apon the stretch of road that was long and he felt he had better pull over lock the car and climb in the back to sleep...

Next morning he awoke in the impound yard, he had done everything right except the pull over to the side of the road was an intersection, he did lock the car and did climb in the back, the police tried to wake him and could not so he and his vechile were impounded...

He learned his lesson from that moment one he got a taxi or partied at home... He also told his sons when they began to show signs of drinking... and he warned them that if he ever caught them he would call the cops himself!!!

I had a friend that liked to go to parties, after a few drinks he would go lock his keys IN the car on purpose.  That way he couldn't drive (it was a BMW, he wouldn't have broken a window to get the keys)

Good idea, if it works, I say do it!! We always plan on spending the night if we go to friends houses to party. (We have a camper, and a van... So this is not a problem.  Afro
We never go to bars these days, too expensive, plus you got to get home, and driving is the only way to get there. (Taxi`s are too expensive)

Usually have a few beers at home, it`s good to buy plenty so no one feels the need to drive to the store.

Good job everyone... I lost a friend to a drunk driver... and have been hit by one also, I also saw seveal friends get into accidents because they had drank and drove... three took over a year to walk again, and one went over a cliff, landed in a rtree, he can now walk after three years of learning to walk, he is trying to learn to tie his shoelaces.... something he loved to wear and is too stubborn to go with slip ons... thank goodness he is stubborn, as he has a long road ahead of him, he was in a coma for a little over a year, and he has to live with the fact that his best friend died on the scene.... both were well over the alcohol level and it was his friend's car, he was the less drunk of the two!!!

That was ten years ago, since then he has recognized some of us, he can run, and he goes hiking instead of the bars.... he talks to teens in hopes that he can prevent them going through the same things he had too.... oh and he has not gotten behind the wheel since that day and never will partly because of his choice and partly because he cannot remember where he is half the time.... so driving is something he will never do again....

Life hits hard and fast.... if we don't watch out we can lose what we care most about.....
