Going to miss that ornery old girl. She was 15 years old, she took a piece of my Heart with her.

Thank you Ambrossia, she was my baby.
We had her from the day she was born... She was ready to go with God though. Most dogs dont live to be 15 years old.

Yeah, the longest any of mine or family (childhood days) lived were 13 years and my first cat died at 14

I found this half wolf half shepard pup and brought her home, she got ran over by a truck when she was a few years old.. survived, but lost a leg.. she died at 13
and my cat got shot by a BB gun, hit in the eye, was missing one eye since she was 2, but died at 14

lol We had like six dogs and three cats when I was growing up.. chickens, peacoks, ducks, rabbits, guinea hens, turkeys, snakes and fish

Man, would never have that many again, but it was good times as a kid lol

*had to re-write peacok because even as a whole word, it would still filter out lol

Six dogs... Wow. Smiley I know what thats like, we had five at the beginning of the year. Half of them didnt get along. So it can be a real handful.
As for cats, the only one who tolerated them was Lucy, The others might see them as dinner.
We love pets here. We have three dogs, and 17 chickens. Would get more, but raising animals cost money... Wouldn't want to overextend our budget.

Sorry to hear about your losses... I`m sure you will always remember them with love.

nah, don't be sorry, they died naturally and lived good lives.. and yes, always with love.. each of them.

17 chickens? wow, how in the world do you do it.. I love fresh eggs, but.. wow lol never had a problem between any dogs I've had and having cats.

I had a Rhodesian Ridgeback (bred for hunting lions) and a cat. That dog was so protective over her and when they played it was awesomely funny.. the cat would charge head on to the dog and the dog would swipe with the paw and send it rolling and then just stand there looking at it like "yeah.. like I didn't see that one coming, try again?"
And the cat would cling to the dog's haunches and the dog would travel around the house with it like that.. lmao they were buds.

Bill takes care of the chickens.  Wink So its easy for me.

Our Cora is kind of spooky. We bought her from some people on Craig s list...Met them half way point to check Cora out. She is beautiful.
(Black German shepherd) We decided to buy her, since they were talking pound.
Well... We have come to believe she was abused, skittish, afraid of everything, including children. Kind of unpredictable when it comes to small animals.
She barks at the fence if she sees a cat. So no, I wouldn't trust her at all.

She gets along great with Ilse, we introduced them when Ilse was really small, Cora treated as if she was her own pup. Kind of amazing.
Cora is a lot less fearful these days.

I think Ilse would get along fine with a cat... She is friendlier.
Mocha, (chi-weenie) Hates cats, Cora, and Ilse. She thinks she owns us. We hope that changes.

lol I know how that is, Kara thinks my son is her personal play/chew toy.. I swear, when my son goes back home, Kara mopes but when he's here, she's all attentive to him, like he was her pup or something.. even right down to keeping him in line

I've known cats who seemed to think their owners were put there specifically to take care of them.. and I do mean with attitude. If they don't get fed on time, they would take swipes at their owner's legs lmao Kept trying to tell them "spray bottle man, I'm telling ya"
