Quick and Easy Halloween Food and Drink Tips

* Waiter there's a fly in my drink! -- Freeze ice cubes with edible "insects" inside by filling a tray half full and freezing, then adding a gummy critter or a couple of raisins, fill the rest of the way with liquid and re-freeze.

 * Fill a new plastic household glove with lemonade, limeade or other liquids to create an eerie floating hand in your punch bowl. Use heavy duty rubber bands to secure the top of the glove, leaving a little room for expansion. Use a small plastic dish to prop up the secured end of the glove in the freezer. Freeze until solid, peel away the glove and float the hand in the punchbowl.

 * For a realistic looking eye frozen in a cube, see our recipe for Bloody Eyeball Cocktails.

 * You can use a ring mold or bundt cake pan to freeze a creepy ice ring for you punch bowl. Fill 1/3 with liquid and freeze, arrange a layer of gummy worms on frozen ring, fill to 3/4 full and re-freeze. To un-mold, simply run hot water over ring for a second to two.

 * Consider using Mountain Dew soda in your drinks and punches, nothing else has quite the same green glow.

 * A wonderful tip we got from the fine folks at the House of Blues, is to use plastic light sticks as swizzle sticks, it gives the drinks an eerie, mysterious glow.

* Make Halloween shaped tortilla chips by using cookies cutters to cut shapes out of tortillas, then deep fry until crisp. You can also make low fat tortilla chips by baking your cutouts in A 350° F oven. In either case, sprinkle with salt. Chips made of blue corn tortillas look especially spooky.
* Use cookie cutters to cut out small sandwiches in Halloween shapes.

Do you have any Halloween costume ideas? Or is that in a different location?

Do you have a usual Halloween costume, clouds? I am usually a black cat - have the kitty ears, paint on whiskers, Black turtleneck sweater, black mini-skirt with tights. What else do I need? Tall black boots? Or ballarina slippers? Any ideas?

No, I haven't dressed up in a few years. Last time I did I was a gypsy... Very original, eh?

Kitty Litter Cake found @ http://tuberavens.smfforfree2.com/index.php/topic,39.0.html  Tuberavens site...
 INGREDIENTS

    * 1 (18.25 ounce) package German chocolate cake mix
    * 1 (18.25 ounce) package white cake mix
    * 2 (3.5 ounce) packages instant vanilla pudding mix
    * 1 (12 ounce) package vanilla sandwich cookies
    * 3 drops green food coloring
    * 1 (12 ounce) package tootsie rolls

DIRECTIONS

   1. Prepare cake mixes and bake according to package directions (any size pan).
   2. Prepare pudding according to package directions and chill until ready to assemble.
   3. Crumble sandwich cookies in small batches in a food processor, scraping often. Set aside all but 1/4 cup. To the 1/4 cup add a few drops of green food coloring and mix.
   4. When cakes are cooled to room temperature, crumble them into a large bowl. Toss with 1/2 of the remaining cookie crumbs, and the chilled pudding. You probably won't need all of the pudding, you want the cake to be just moist, not soggy.
   5. Line kitty litter box with the kitty litter liner. Put cake mixture into box.
   6. Put half of the unwrapped tootsie rolls in a microwave safe dish and heat until softened. Shape the ends so that they are no longer blunt, and curve the tootsie rolls slightly. Bury tootsie rolls randomly in the cake and sprinkle with half of the remaining cookie crumbs. Sprinkle a small amount of the green colored cookie crumbs lightly over the top.
   7. Heat 3 or 4 of the tootsie rolls in the microwave until almost melted. Scrape them on top of the cake and sprinkle lightly with some of the green cookie crumbs. Heat the remaining tootsie rolls until pliable and shape as before. Spread all but one randomly over top of cake mixture. Sprinkle with any remaining cookie crumbs. Hang the remaining tootsie roll over side of litter box and sprinkle with a few green cookie crumbs. Serve with the pooper scooper for a gross Halloween dessert.

Perfect cake for a cat to bring to a party.  Afro

Vampire Kiss Martini

1 part vodka, chilled
1 part Champagne
1 part Chambord
Garnish with wax teeth/candy corn/blood orange slice

Pour vodka in a martini glass, top with Champagne and pour a little of the Chambord over the back of a spoon to make it float.

Awesome!

Here is a recipe for Pizza Mummies!!

English muffins
Pizza sauce
Black olives
Scallions
Red or green pepper
Cheese sticks or slices

1. Heat the oven to 350° F. For each mummy, spread a tablespoon of pizza sauce onto half of an English muffin (toast it first, if you like).

2. Set olive slices in place for eyes and add round slices of green onion or bits of red or green pepper for pupils.

3. Lay strips of cheese (we used a pulled-apart cheese stick) across the muffin for the mummy?s wrappings.

4. Bake for about 10 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the muffin is toasty.

1 cup milk
5 teaspoons unflavored gelatin
4 cups heavy cream
1 cup + 1 Tb sugar, divided
pinch salt
2 Tablespoons vanilla
8 oz. pomegranite juice
1/4 cup cornstarch

Place milk in a small bowl and sprinkle gelatin over the top. Stir and let sit for about five minutes so the gelatin can rehydrate a bit.

Combine cream and sugar in a pan and bring to a boil over medium heat. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla and salt. Add the gelatin mixture and stir again until combined. Pour into (brain) mold, cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate overnight or until mixture is completely set.

To unmold, gently tilt mold so sides of the panna cotta pull away a bit, then place on platter or plate. You can also dip the bottom of the mold into warm water to help in unmolding.

(For non-brain occasions, pour into small custard cups, ramekins, or a large bowl)

For the pomegranite sauce, I just got a small bottle of Pom Wonderful, added three heaping spoonfuls of sugar so it wasn't so tart, mixed in about 1/4 cup cornstarch, whisked like crazy, then brought it all to a boil in a small saucepan while stirring. The consistancy is rather disgusting, but that's the whole point!

This looks especially creepy set out on a really nice platter. Also quite effective on a carving board with a large chef's knife plunged into the center

P.S. If you don't have time for this recipe, jello works wonderfully!

Isnt it gross?  Afro
