Mars Pedigree dry dog food (small bites) has been recalled as of September 18th on a nationwide basis due to suspected salmonella contamination. This is a serious problem and is subject to cross infection to humans. All food matching the description provided by the manufacturer on their website should be returned for a refund or substitute or destroyed. All containers and dishes including placemats should be sterilized using one part bleach to five parts water, and should be handled with the same caution afforded raw chicken.
