OMAHA, Neb. -- A Sioux City man is paying a hefty price for stealing two cases of beer from a gas station.
According to court documents, Evan Lyons, 29, was sentenced to consecutive 15-year prison terms for first-degree theft and assault while participating in a felony. In both instances, Lyons was charged as a habitual offender.
According to court documents, on Aug. 19, Lyons robbed a Kum & Go in Sioux City and assaulted a store clerk while attempting to run off with two cases of stolen Budweiser beer.
Lyons was also ordered to pay $37.72 restitution to Kum & Go. He pleaded guilty to the charges as part of a plea agreement.

I think this guy needs to be punished for this, but 30 years? I've seen people on their 3rd DWI and they get off with some community service and probation. If you're on your 3rd DWI, wouldn't that make you a habitual offender too?
