Woman Chooses Jail Over $7.45 Bill

Authorities in Florida say a 66-year-old Fort Pierce woman opted to go to jail rather than pay a $7.45 bill for coffee and a sandwich at a Waffle House restaurant. Maryanne O'Neill has already been released after Saturday's incident, but police say she could face another 60 days in jail and a fine of $500 if convicted in the matter.

Why why why???  Why didn`t she want to pay? There must have been a reason she is going through this ordeal.
7.45 seems reasonable for a sandwich and a cup of Joe.

I looked all over for an answer to this, but none of the articles I read said why she didn't want to pay her bill.

That seems like a major question....People just don`t do stuff like this, unless they are crazy.

I talked to my brother in Fort Pierce and the story is the bread was moldy. It doesn't surprise me that the gestapo, who was there for a free meal --they don't pay either -- would side with the management.

I don't know if I believe that though because according to an article, she ate the whole sandwich.  If I found mold on the bread, I wouldn't eat the whole thing.  ewwww.
